On September 3, 2024, the Centre for Global Engagement at HKSYU had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Consulate General of Israel in Hong Kong. This visit represents a significant step towards enhancing academic and cultural exchanges between our university and Israeli institutions.

The delegation, led by Mr. Amir Lati, Consul General of Israel, included representatives such as Ms. Sahar Ken-Tor from the Political & Economic Department and Ms. Ernie Yuen, Press Officer. Our university was represented by Prof. Selina Chan, Academic Vice President, and Dr. Alice Chung, Director of Global Engagement.

The discussions were both engaging and productive, focusing on potential collaborations in academic and cultural exchange. Key topics included student exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, and opportunities for faculty collaboration.

Following the initial meeting, the delegation facilitated a connection with Tel Aviv University (TAU), which is ranked as top university in Israel. On 24 September 2024, we had the privilege of meeting with TAU representatives, including Prof. Milette Shamir, Vice-President for International Affairs, and Mr. Konstantin Platonov, Asia Engagement Director of The Lowy International School of TAU.  This meeting aimed to explore the initiation of academic and cultural exchanges between students of Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Tel Aviv University.

The delegation also engaged with Dr. Alice Chung, Centre for Global Engagement; Dr. Chung-Kin Tsang, Associate Head of Sociology; and Dr. Nick Lau, Head of the Department of Applied Data Science at HKSYU. Together, we explored promising opportunities for collaborative programmes that would significantly benefit our students and faculty.
