Broadening Horizons: CGE Champions Global Exchange
Looking ahead, CGE will continue to deepen ties with institutions worldwide, including leading universities such as Yale and Oxford. Dr. Lam also sees growing demand among master’s and doctoral students in cultural studies, history, psychology and related fields for short-term research overseas.
In response, the Centre is developing a Visiting Student Programme that would enable postgraduate students to take selected courses or conduct academic research at renowned universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and mainland China.
Week to be held each semester. Featuring talks by visiting scholars and other activities, these initiatives would create more opportunities for exchange students and their local peers to meet, learn and connect.

CGE Champions Global Exchange
The Centre for Global Engagement (CGE) champions campus
internationalisation and multicultural education. Through
partnerships with nearly 100 institutions worldwide, the Centre
opens doors to overseas exchange and a broader global outlook.
Inward and outward exploration
Newly appointed Director Dr. Lam describes CGE’s mission as twofold: helping local students venture beyond Hong Kong and welcoming exchange students from around the world. Partner institutions overseas and in mainland China offer semester-long and summer exchanges. For visiting students, CGE also curates sightseeing tours, arts and crafts workshops, and culinary experiences that bring Hong Kong’s culture to life.
