Pukyong National University (PKNU) invites you to learn about Korea and its unique culture through lectures and off-campus activities such as Korean Traditional Costume and Manner, Taekwondo, K-pop Dance, Cooking Korean Food, Making Traditional Korean Alcohol, Marine Sports in Busan, and Gamcheon Culture Village Tour.

Tuberculosis(TB) Test

  • TB test result is compulsory for all international students. 
  • You must bring your tuberculosis(TB) test result in English with you upon arrival.
  • TB test must be done within one(1) month period 
  • TB Test result not acceptable if test done before:
    • 2 Weeks: 20 June 2026
    • 4 Weeks: 1 July 2026

Submission of Application

  • Step 1: Email the the following documents to the Centre for Global Engagement (CGE) at studyabroad@hksyu.edu by 17 May 2026.
    • Application form with a photo attached
    • Academic Transcript in English (*apply for it through the Registry here)
    • Proof of Student Registration (*apply for it through the Registry here)
    • A copy of the first two pages of the passport
    • A copy of medical/health insurance coverage
  • Step 2: The CGE will liaise with PKNU and send you the payment information in due course.
  • Step 3: Students should pay the fee to PKNU by 1 June 2026 (4 weeks)/ 28 May 2026 (2 weeks). Late payments will not be accepted.
  • Step 4: You should receive the Letter of Acceptance (LoA)/confirmation once the payment and application are approved.
  • Step 5: Please apply for the related Visa (if applicable) once you receive the LoA. Do remember to allow sufficient time for the visa application.

Means-tested Subsidy

Undergraduate students receiving means-tested student financial assistance from the Student Finance Office (SFO) or whose families are receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) are eligible to apply for the Subsidy Scheme for Exchange Activities – Means-tested Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for the Post-Secondary Students (Means-tested SSEBR).

With Korea as the destination and 2-4 weeks in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme for this summer school programme is HK$9,000. The amount awarded to each eligible student is based on their approved level of student finance (as a percentage of the full grant) up to the maximum subsidy. Each student will be eligible for assistance under the Means-tested SSEBR only TWICE throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong, irrespective of the amount of subsidy received.

If you are eligible to apply, please submit your Application Form after receiving the Letter of Acceptance issued by the host institution, and before your departure.
Non-means-tested Subsidy

All full-time and local undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the Subsidy Scheme for Exchange Activities –Non-means-tested SSEBR:

With Korea as the destination and 2-4 weeks in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme on this summer school programme is HK$2,700. Each student will only be eligible to receive the Non-means-tested SSEBR ONCE throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong.
